Community First Responders This website provides detailed information on the Community First Responder (CFR) volunteers that work for the South Central Ambulance Service NHS trust.
What is a Responder? A Community First Responder or CFR, is a member of the public, trained by the ambulance service, who volunteers to help in their community by responding to 999 calls and medical emergencies before the arrival of the emergency ambulance.

Community Responder Group

Name:Henley
Areas:We respond to calls within a five mile radius of central Henley but will go further on a need basis.
Contact:Robert Aitken is the local volunteer Scheme Co-ordinator, He can be contacted at 01491 575881, 078 99 928 928 or rfaitken@hotmail.com. The SCAS responder contact point is 0800 587 0207 or cfr@scas.nhs.uk
About:Henley has an operational scheme currently with two active volunteer responders. Covering a number of call outs in Henley itself and the surrounding area. We are very keen to recruit new members as we are not yet able to reach anywhere near the levels of time coverage we would like.
Thanks:Invesco Perpetual whose headquarters are in Henley have in the past been generous in supporting the scheme with funding for equipment.

We are always on the lookout for new responders, ideally we would like to setup a CFR group in as many different areas throughout the four counties covered by the south central area as possible. If you are interested in becoming a responder, please Click Here. If you don't fancy the idea of actually attending an emergency situation, groups always need organisers, fund fundraisers and volunteers who are willing to help in other capacities.

Please bear in mind that all the work that community responders do is on a voluntary basis, the equipment has to be bought and maintained, which all costs real money. If you want to make a donation and help a particular group, or the scheme in general, whatever the amount, it is all very gratefully received and will make a difference!
